PhotoManipulation: Lighting TechniquesVISUAL TRICKERYPhotoManipulation: Lighting Techniques by conzpiracy
One of the great joys of PhotoManipulation is the act of using photographic images and hand-painted elements to fabricate realities. What makes this new art-form so potent is the fact that you can create a sense of realism that in my opinion cant really be matched by other mediums. To attain the level where you can articulate your ideas into photorealistic realities takes a fair amount of practice, but fortunately there are many resources that can assist you get there much much faster than trial and error alone.
When I really started to focus on lighting in my work, the quality of my pieces made a monumental jump. I dont profess to be a lighting expert, this article collates useful information and resources that have helped me in my progression, and can hopefully help you as well. Today we are focussig on traditional corsets which are figure forming and usually include boning (usually metal boning for high quality corsets, plastic, wood, cane and other materials can also be us
What is Surreal Photography? What is Surreal Photography? What is Surreal Photography? by Kaz-D
Surreal Photography can often be blurred with Conceptual - therefore Shalora - the Conceptual Gallery Moderator has shared this:
"Surreal photography would be more about creating a world or image which goes beyond the physical world as we know it. It usually shows something which would be impossible in real life or tampers with the line defining what is real and what is imaginary. Surreal = beyond the real."
I think personally that this sums up Surreal Photography! Surreal Photography often involves regular compositions which have been altered by obscuring something or changing angles and perspectives and so on. The lighting and exposures are often played with to create ghostly forms and abstract shapes. Hence the link with Abstract Photography.
