PE - Interview with *usartdudePE - Interview with *usartdude by Mollinda
Hi, my name is Ken Swinson. I am a full time artist working in traditional printmaking. I had a little bit of college, but was disappointed with the amount I learned compared with the amount of money spent. I chose to spend my money on books, art supplies and workshops instead of a formal education. I think learning on my own helped me develop a unique style.
What attracted you to printmaking?
I saw a reduction woodcut by a master printmaker. I'm sorry I can't remember her name, but I will never forget her artwork. She carved giant prints with many colors, using only one block of wood. I wanted to understand how she did that, and the more I learned about the process, the more obsessed I became.
What are your essential tools/materials?

Plexiglass-for monotypes and to

PE - Spotlight on PRINTMAKINGDuring Project Educate we shed light on under-appreciated galleries that you may not know a great deal about today that gallery is TRADITIONAL PRINTPE - Spotlight on PRINTMAKING by Mollinda
The art or technique of making prints, esp. as practiced in engraving, etching, drypoint, woodcut or serigraphy.
Printmaking is one of the most versatile and varied art forms and yet still an underappreciated and misunderstood gallery on DA. Traditional print requires precise planning and always gives unpredictable results, thus the beauty and allure of the medium. Here's a better explanation of each individual gallery
Collographs are produced by collaging textured materials (e.g. papers, cardboard, wire, circuitboards, plastics etc) on a plate and then printing from it (for information on how to print from a plate, please read the Wikipe
48 Hour Manga/Anime Contest- WINNER Well it was an interesting two days to say the least, and I saw a lot of interesting art as well. I love the ideas that people came up with, and I have plans on doing this more often in the future. Its fun!48 Hour Manga/Anime Contest- WINNER by Nyiana-sama
For those of who you might have missed the contest, didn't find out about it in time, or for any other reason, a small recap of what the contest was.
"The contest is based around three themes, and all three must be incorporated into the drawing, the themes will include a noun, adjective, and verb."
The themes for this contest were:
The challenge was to create a brand new deviation that included these three themes and to make them flow as smoothly and nicely as possible. Judging was done by myself and I looked for composition and originality in the deviations. It was a tough choice, but after reviewing each of the entries, a winner was chosen!

Frottage is the process of making rubbings from textured surfaces to produce random images that can be left as they are or worked into.
The Fine Art world scorns glitter, but this here is the interwebs and we love it especially if it's on a unicorn.
Hatching is a commonly used shading technique using areas of close, parallel lines to create tone and shade. It is primarily a drawing technique but is also used in printmaking among others.

Community Project: Gig Poster Showdown!A new community project over at VectorTuts+.Community Project: Gig Poster Showdown! by ChewedKandi
"If your digital art-form was a band, what style of music would it play? Is your Vector style bright and crazy like J-Pop? Do you rock Photoshop harder than Death Metal? Are you more like a Super Group of Show Stopping Mixed Media? As part of this Creative Session, were calling on our readers to strut their stuff on the Tuts+ virtual stage and go head to head in a massive Battle of the Bands Posters!
Will The Vectors have what it takes to win the glory or will The Rasters bring the house down in a performance thats not to be missed? Turn the music up, kick your imagination into gear and share your creations with the community."
