Project Educate: Showcasing your Artisan CraftsThis is a comprehensive guide on how to best present your crafts and show them in their full glory. It is based on my personal experience, research and of course on my taste, so it is by no means applicable to everything or everyone and is strongly biased. I hope this helps you to get more out of displaying your crafts on dA.
This guide has three sections: Photography, Selecting a Category, Description.
Most artisans and crafters have experienced that it is difficult to display three dimensional work on a two dimensional screen. Bringing the full beauty, complexity and all around view and feel of your work to the screen is a big challenge, but there are some easy fixes.
1. Photography
Photographing your crafts is the most important part in showing it off, but it is also the biggest challenge for getting it right. Many crafters think that getting great photographs means having a studio and expensive equipment, but there are many methods of enhancing your images without

This list will by no means be complete, we are just highlighting a few techniques for each letter
S stands for Stained Glass
Stained glass is a method of using colored glass (opaque or transparent colors) to create a glass panel. The colored glass is cut into pieces following a pattern, they are then pasted together either by the lead came method (traditional) or the tiffany foil method (modern).

S stands for Scrimshaw
Scrimshaw is the name for artwork created from the by-products of whaling and harvesting other mammals that live in the ocean. It is most commonly made out of the bones and teeth of sperm whales, the baleen of other whales, and the tusks of walruses.

PE - Introducing MetalworkAs part of the #projecteducate Artisan Crafts Week, we would like to introduce the galleries within the Artisan Crafts main gallery. This week will be full of information, interviews and features related to all the different media and techniques that are at home in the Artisan Crafts galleries.
Today we are looking at the Metal Work gallery. In the gallery description Metal Work is described as "Metal work involving the use of heat, including all blades, such as knives, swords, cutlery, etc. blacksmithing; and any kind of metal forming without the use of heat, which would include repousse/chasing/embossing and engraving; also chain mail and armor."
To show off what this gallery has to offer, I would like to highlight a few recent pieces.

What is it all about?



I want you to show us your best spooky craft! This can be a costume, mask, jewelry, Halloween decoration, anything that suits the season (except for carved pumpkins! :iconpumpkinlaplz: )!  Get creative and go crazy, sew a costume for your cat, bake Halloween cookies, create your own Halloween costume, decorate your whole house, create a large yard decoration, anything goes!

This is an artisan crafts contest, not a photography contest. If you take a picture, it would have to be a picture of a craft that you made yourself.

But, if you would write German, I would get on certainly also wrongly. :D
I mean a traditional made paintings. Is such a thing allowed in this contest?

Also ist ein mit Pinsel und Farbe gemaltes Bild nicht erlaubt, weil es nicht in den Bereich Kunsthandwerk gehört?
